Workshops

I am available as a public speaker and to hold workshops on the following topics:

Meditation
Meditation workshops are available in two formats:

  • Guided Meditation
Guided Meditation in group sessions is similar 1-on-1 work, but with the advantage that each listener get’s to go on their own personal journey. Before and after each meditation, the group is given a chance to talk about their experience but is not forced to do so. Group meditations are often more powerful than 1-on-1 sessions because there is a perceived safety in numbers. In groups, we can regulate, share and feel seen, allowing all present to go even deeper into a meditative state.
  • Intro to Meditation
There are a lot of different forms of meditation and this sampler allows larger groups to experience this wide variety and to eventually choose the one or ones that work best for them. A brief list includes: breathwork, lovingKindness, chanting, Vipassana, transcendental, zen, Qigong, RAIN, mindfulness and grounding meditations — and are all wonderful forms that I can teach to groups.

Men’s Work
I have been a skilled men’s talk group facilitator for over 10 years and manage several local men’s groups. Having attended and staffed a number of retreats, I am familiar with the various forms the “work” can take. I can offer a one-time workshop or a sample men’s circle. I can also lead an organization through developing their own men’s work program, including the creation of rules for conduct or a covenant of good relations. Finally, I am eager to educate your group on why men’s work is so impactful and why men are unlikely to open up in co-ed groups. Note: Men’s work is not a biological thing — it is open to any male or male-identifying attendee.

Improv Workshops
For over 30 years I have been teaching improv and sketch comedy to newcomers and to those who think they could never perform on a stage without a script. In as little as one hour, I can show a group of people how to interact with curiosity, vulnerability and spontaneity. This vulnerability leads to an increased feeling of community and trust in each other. I don’t teach “how to be funny”. That is something that comes naturally with time. I teach how to trust each other and how to trust that each moment can be a moment of honest discovery. Additionally, improv skills can help with acting, public speaking and with generalized social anxiety.
